It is important for the youth to get politically mobilized and know what the impact of voting is. The first step is to actually get information about parties and their program and link this with someones personal compass/ideology. Party identification can be a complex proces, that’s why it is important to actively search for party program information and know where you stand on with certain topics on the political spectrum. On this way you can navigate your vote and get the most out of it.

There are different ways to vote:
      1. You can choose to just vote on the party that matches best with yout personal preferences.

      2. You can choose to NOT vote on your “favorite” party but instead vote on a larger party which will give you more certainty that it will get elected seats = (the wasted vote logic)

      3. You can choose to NOT vote on your “favorite” party but instead vote on a smaller party to give your party of preference a sign. This sign could be to make a coalition with this party, or to just threaten the party to do better.

These are all different (tactical) ways to vote in order to get the most out of it. In reality most people just vote on their party of preference.

I want the Belgian Youth to get more involved in the EU elections and institutions as this is mostly just something that stays in the background. It is a crucial part of EU policy making if we acquire the right information to give our vote to it.
